Choosing the Right Engineered Wood Flooring: Signature, Classic and Ecoline Constructions Compared

When it comes to engineered oak flooring, selecting the right construction is essential to ensuring long-term durability and optimal performance. At Ecohardwood, we offer three engineered wood flooring constructions - Signature, Classic, and Ecoline - each are built to last for generations, manufactured to the highest European standards and developed to meet different applications, performance expectations, and budgets.

While they differ in composition and technical construction, they share same commitment to quality, sustainability and precision craftsmanship.

In this guide, we outline the differences between our wood flooring construction types to help you choose the most suitable floors for your project.

Signature: Three Layer Hardwood Flooring for Maximum Performance

Signature is our most advanced flooring construction, designed for maximum stability, durability and enhanced thermal performance. This three layer format - featuring two layers of hardwood and a birch plywood core - delivers exceptional structural integrity and up to 15% greater heat conductivity, making it particularly well-suited for use with underfloor heating.

Unlike softwood-based boards, the use of hardwood throughout reduces thermal resistance. With 7mm of hardwood and 7.5mm of birch plywood, this construction allows efficient energy transfer and stable long-term performance.

  • Extra strong and formaldehyde-free PUR adhesive used for structure glueing ensures that there is no delamination of multilayers

Classic: Industry-Leading Stability and Durability

Our Classic flooring construction uses a traditional two-layer format and a robust birch plywood base - a material well known for its strength and performance in flooring applications. Classic engineered wood floors provide a strong balance between cost, performance, and longevity.

Ecoline: Excellent Value Quality Oak Floors, Certified Performance with German Ecoboard Core

Ecoline is a high-quality, budget-conscious engineered wood flooring option that offers excellent structural stability, durability and performance. Manufactured using premium German Ecoboard - a dense, moisture-resistant material specifically engineered for flooring - this construction has been tested and certified for performance in various environments, including wet areas.

Despite its affordability, Ecoline does not compromise on quality. It is already a preferred solution among many developers and homeowners seeking the authenticity and beauty of real oak flooring within a budget-conscious build. Ecoboard offers lower delamination risk and, in some cases, even greater flexibility during installation, making it easier to work with than traditional plywood boards.

I bought the floors for 1 of my project. They look amazing, worth every penny. The client is so happy with this flooring. Next projects will suggest to my clients to get this floor. Easy to install...One of the staff which I deal with ( name Renata ), was really helpful. Thank you Renata. Definitely recommend this flooring.
I recently visited the Ecohardwood showroom in West London and was genuinely impressed. It's beautifully designed and the quality of the products really stands out. Everything is made from real, natural oak and you can see the attention to detail in the craftsmanship. The team were very friendly and knowledgeable. If you're looking for premium engineered wood flooring, made-to-measure oak doors or bespoke oak staircases, I'd definitely recommend visiting the showroom. It's well worth the trip and gives you a much better understanding of the products than looking online. Excellent service and beautiful quality throughout.
We chose Ecohardwood having seen their engineered oak floors (Tobacco) in a friend's house. We found Irmantas a pleasure to deal with. We love the look and finish of the product and chose it in part because it works well with our underfloor heating. There were a few spillages by our builders but the Ecohardwood team have been very helpful in helping our builders to remedy these mistakes. Irmantas has remained very reassuring and calm! We fully recommend the product having lived in our house now for a few months. If I did it again I might use Ecohardwood to do the installation.
We recently worked with Ecohardwood and Gode Interiors on a bespoke oak staircase project. Ecohardwood manufactured the staircase cladding and supplied high-quality oak components, which were beautifully crafted and delivered to a very high standard. The products were well prepared for installation, and the team was knowledgeable, responsive, and easy to work with throughout the project. We would be happy to recommend Ecohardwood to anyone looking for quality oak staircases, flooring, doors, and bespoke joinery.
We recently purchased Ecohardwood engineered oak wood flooring in the Tobacco colour and we couldn’t be happier. The quality is excellent – well made, with a beautiful natural finish. We installed it throughout the whole house and it has completely changed the look and feel of the space, giving it a warm, modern and very natural feel. We did apply a premium hardwax oil, which enhanced the tone and added extra protection. We are extremely happy with our choice and would definitely recommend this floor to anyone looking for great quality and a timeless look.
